Der Tischwagen hat meist zwei Etagen, von denen die obere als Arbeitsfläche dient. Der Etagenwagen hat oft drei Böden und ist auf maximale Ablagefläche und Transportmenge ausgelegt. Die Begriffe werden im Handel aber häufig gleichbedeutend verwendet.
Je nach Modell liegt die Gesamttragkraft bei rund 250 kg, 400 kg oder 500 kg. Dieser Wert gilt für den ganzen Wagen, verteilt auf alle Etagen. Schwere Teile sollten immer unten liegen, damit der Schwerpunkt tief bleibt.
Zwei Etagen reichen für sperrige Teile und wenn Sie die obere Fläche als Arbeitsplatz nutzen wollen. Drei Etagen bieten mehr Ablagefläche bei gleicher Stellfläche und eignen sich für viele kleine Teile, etwa beim Kommissionieren.
Weiche Reifen aus TPE oder Vollgummi rollen leise und hinterlassen keine Spuren auf glatten Böden. Für eine sichere Standfestigkeit sollte mindestens eine Rolle eine Feststellbremse haben.
Ein Edelstahlwagen lohnt sich in Küche, Labor und Klinik, wo Hygiene und einfache Reinigung wichtig sind. Edelstahl rostet nicht und verträgt Reinigungsmittel. Für trockene Werkstatt und Lager genügt ein lackierter Stahlwagen, der günstiger ist.
