Personal protective equipment for fixed ladders
Fixed ladders rely on a fall protection system to secure the climb. The fall arrester is the moving core of that system: it travels along the guide rope or guide rail, follows the user while climbing and locks instantly in the event of a fall. Without a working arrester, the whole system is useless, even if the ladder and guide themselves are intact.
When to replace the arrester
The fall arrester is both a wear part and a safety part. Replace it if it moves stiffly, shows visible corrosion, or has triggered once during a fall, even if it looks undamaged afterwards. Under EN 353-1, this type of guided fall arrester counts as personal protective equipment against falls and must be inspected regularly.
What to check when reordering
The arrester must match the existing guide: check whether your system uses a rope or a fixed rail, and whether it needs a stainless steel version or a stainless steel and aluminium combination. Do not mix components from different manufacturers or series. More accessories for fall protection systems and ladder accessories are listed under Accessories & Spare Parts.
