Rollers and wheel axles for mobile ladders
Shelf ladders with a head trolley glide along a rail at the top, mobile platform ladders roll on the floor at the bottom. In both cases, the rollers sit on an axle that carries the weight and guides the direction of travel. If a roller or axle wears out, the ladder becomes stiff to move or runs crooked.
Spring-loaded roller or fixed roller
With a spring-loaded roller, a spring pushes the roller down so the ladder locks in place automatically once someone climbs on and can no longer roll away. A fixed roller, by contrast, stays permanently in contact with the floor and only serves movement, for example on the head trolley of a shelf ladder. The two types are not interchangeable, their function differs fundamentally.
What to check when reordering
