Racking inspection to DIN EN 15635 – obligation and responsibility

Anyone using racking commercially is responsible as the operator for keeping it in a safe condition. The standard DIN EN 15635 and the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (Section 10 BetrSichV) require stationary racking installations to be inspected regularly. Kreckler.Shop carries out this racking inspection for you – from the inspection and the documentation through to defect rectification.

What is checked during a racking inspection?

The expert inspection covers the entire condition of the racking installation:

  • Deformations and damage to uprights, frames and beams.
  • Completeness and function of safety pins, pallet stops and impact protection.
  • Vertical alignment, anchoring and stability.
  • Presence and legibility of the load signs (bay and beam load).

Identified damage is assessed and documented according to damage categories (green, yellow, red).

How often must inspections be carried out?

Under DIN EN 15635, an inspection by a competent person is required at least once a year. In addition, trained operating staff must regularly – usually weekly – check the racking for damage by visual inspection.

Who is allowed to carry out a racking inspection?

The annual inspection is carried out by a trained competent person (racking inspector) appointed by the operator. The technical requirements are set out in DIN EN 15635 and TRBS 1203. Our racking inspectors bring this qualification along with experience from numerous installations.
