The sack truck tilts the load onto two wheels and is manoeuvrable. The stacking truck has a larger load area for stacked goods and often a higher capacity. For many items the stacking truck is more practical.

Aluminium is light, often around 10 kg, and carries up to about 250 kg. Steel is heavier, around 20 kg, and carries up to 500 kg. Aluminium is handier, steel more load-bearing and robust.
