What is the difference between a mobile scaffold and a platform ladder?

A mobile scaffold has a larger walkable platform with guardrails and can be moved as a whole unit. A platform ladder is meant for short jobs in a single spot. For longer tasks with more than one person, the mobile scaffold is the safer choice.

How high can a mobile scaffold be built up?

The maximum working height depends on the model and the number of frame elements, and is stated in the manufacturer's assembly and use instructions. Always follow this figure and the permitted wind load.

Does a mobile scaffold need regular inspection?

Yes, scaffolds used commercially must be inspected regularly by a competent person under German workplace safety law (BetrSichV). An inspection record and an inspection sticker document the current status.

What is the ballasting for on a mobile scaffold with an outrigger?

An outrigger shifts the platform's centre of gravity to one side. Ballasting balances this extra load and stops the tower from tipping over.

Can I assemble a mobile scaffold on my own?

Smaller folding scaffolds can usually be assembled by one person. For tall towers with several frame levels we recommend two people and following the manufacturer's assembly instructions.
