What is the difference between a fixed ladder and a leaning ladder?

A fixed ladder is permanently mounted and installed at its location for good. A leaning ladder you set up when needed and put away again afterwards.

From when do I need fall protection on the ladder?

That depends on the fall height and the operator's risk assessment. From a certain height, workplace regulations require a sliding fall arrester to DIN EN 353-1.

Is a back protection cage enough as fall protection?

Under current understanding a back protection cage alone is no longer regarded as sufficient fall protection. It mainly serves as lateral guidance, actual protection is provided by a fall arrest system to DIN EN 353-1.

What materials are shaft ladders available in?

We carry shaft ladders in stainless steel, galvanised steel and glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). The choice depends on the environment, moisture and chemical exposure.

How often must fixed ladders be inspected?

The inspection intervals are set by the operator's risk assessment, an annual inspection by a competent person following DGUV Information 208-016 is common.
